New Training Coordinators attend virtual event

The Insulation Industry International Apprentice and Training Fund (IIIATF) held a virtual training session for the new Training Coordinators.

Held two days before the JAC Conference in June, the new Training Coordinators and Instructors were invited to learn, re-learn and brush up on various teaching techniques, as well as learn about different tools provided by the IIIATF to aid in their success in the classroom.

The course covered the following topics: DOL 29, CFR 29 and DOL 29, CFR 30 website navigation, Apprenticeship Standards, Trust agreements, Standard Operating Procedures and Policies, Policy Reviews, and computer use and cyber best practices.

Additional topics included lease and rental arrangements, material and equipment purchases, insurance policies and record keeping. All the topics resulted in constructive and productive conversations. A majority of the first day was taught by Local 17 Training Coordinator Bob McGuckin and Local 34 Training Coordinator Eric Houske.

McGuckin opened and closed the topics he taught by offering support and assistance for all Training Coordinators who have questions.  “We are here to help, if you are looking to make updates, ensure your JATC is in order or have questions, the network of Training Coordinators and Steering Committee members are always available,” he said. McGuckin followed through with that promise in the days and weeks that followed as he visited and worked with Local 19 and their new Training Coordinator Eliseo ‘Chico’ Aleman.

With the new and updated tools shared by the IIIATF for online teaching, the Online Education System, Online Time Card Management System, Member Services and Online Local Union Hall were all reviewed, including sharing screens and examples. These second-day topics were taught and demonstrated by IIIATF Administrator John Stahl, IIIATF Administrative Assistant Christina Bouchard and Local 1 Training Coordinator Terry Walsh.

Thank you to the following Training Coordinators and Instructors who participated in the training: Lupe Moreno from Local 5, Rick Rothwell from Local 6, Brian Kinsman from Local 7, Jim Walsh from Local 8, Ed Krawczyk from Local 14, Todd Conn from Local 18, Eliseo ‘Chico’ Aleman from Local 19, John Fritz from Local 23, Jim Hoos from Local 24, Daniel Gallipeau from Local 27, Dalyn Rose from Local 41, Ryan Webb from Local 45, Donnie VanWinkle from Local 46, Carl Wilson from Local 53, Rob Cochran from Local 69, Tony Gaskill from Local 73, Bo Modlin from Local 74, Jeremie Overson from Local 76, Craig Francis from Local 78, Todd Motz from Local 80, Paul Miller from Local 81, John Amodio from Local 89, Dan Annett from Local 110, Bernard Alvarez from Local 132 and Michael Van Compernolle from Local 135.
