Local 46 Knoxville recruits via TV commercial

HFIAW Local 46 Knoxville has added a new television commercial to its recruitment efforts, highlighting the union's many contributions to the community and its members.

The commercial, produced by WATE Channel 6, features Local 46 Business Manager Charles Woody and Organizer Caney Ellis, as well as several Local 46 members. Commercial 46

"We've been discussing for several years now how we as a Local do a lot of good things for our community, but we're just not great at bragging about ourselves to the public," Woody said. "So when we heard that the International was moving forward in marketing our product (Mechanical Insulation), we decided that this was our chance to do our part and try to get Local 46 out there to the men and women of East Tennessee and surrounding areas."

Ellis added that they are excited about the potential that the commercial has to help the Local grow and it was important to get the word out about the great benefits that Local 46 offers its members.

Since the commercial first aired, several people have reached out, which has led to new conversations about the apprenticeship program and work opportunities.

Local 46 is considering producing a similar commercial for the Chattanooga area.

Woody believes television commercials are great ways to get the word out about unions to as many people as possible.

Local 46 is encouraging other Locals to consider doing something similar. Woody will gladly answer any questions or discuss the process with any other Local interested in airing a commercial.
