IIIATF hosts virtual nanomaterials training course

The Insulation Industry International Apprentice and Training Fund (IIIATF) hosted a virtual nanomaterials training course on Feb. 17.

This Train-the-Trainers course was designed to educate our trainers on the proper nanomaterial precautions members should take when they encounter these materials on the jobsite.

cpwr-logoThe training was presented by a team from the Center for Construction Research and Training (CPWR), including Bruce Lippy, Gavin West, Sara Brooks and Bill Kojola.

Among the topics covered were: What actually is a nanomaterial; how nanomaterials are impacting and changing the construction industry; what does one need to know about nanomaterial exposure; how can we control nanomaterial exposures in construction; and what are we doing with hazard communication for nanomaterials.

Each topic was covered in different sections and there was a question-and-answer session at the conclusion of each section. There was also a 15-minute breakout session, where trainers were able to work on different scenarios involving nanomaterials in the workplace.
