General President Revard promotes veterans on Union Podcast

International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Allied Workers General President Gregory T. Revard joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast on Veterans Day to discuss opportunities available for veterans through the HFIAW’s registered apprenticeship program.

Veterans are often ideal candidates for apprenticeships, said Revard. They understand the value of a hard day’s work, can follow through on instructions and are used to leading drug free lifestyles.

The Insulators Union has a great relationship with the Helmets to Hardhats program and is always looking for great apprentice candidates, he said. Many veterans have successfully completed apprenticeships through a Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC). Through the building trades, veterans are able to land good paying jobs with quality benefits.

Infrastructure bill spurs high demand for insulation apprenticeships

Revard also spoke about the recently passed infrastructure bill and the exciting opportunities it will bring for the Insulators Union. Passage of the bill creates a good problem for the union, as they will need to ramp up recruitment in order to secure the trained labor needed for the insulator construction jobs the legislation is expected to create.

According to Revard, Mechanical Insulation is also key to the environmental agenda of President Biden’s Build Back Better plan. When Mechanical Insulation is properly installed, it creates immediate savings. Not only does Mechanical Insulation save money through energy efficiency, but it also lowers a building’s carbon footprint. Mechanical Insulation is a key component to the nation’s efforts to achieve carbon neutrality.

He encouraged veterans, or anyone interested in an apprenticeship or career with the Insulators Union, to visit the HFIAW’s Careers Page on its website.
