Help is available for members displaced by Northern Alberta wildfires
Insulators International Staff — Fri, May 6, 2016 @ 14:05 PM
An Important Message from General President James P. McCourt and General Secretary-Treasurer Gregory T. Revard:
Insulators International officers and staff are monitoring the situation in northern Alberta. We want to assure our Brothers and Sisters in the region that we are deeply concerned about everyone’s safety, but more important: We are prepared to help.
We know that some of our members and their families are among the more than 80,000 people forced to flee from the spreading inferno around Fort McMurray. Homes have been destroyed, and in some cases entire neighborhoods have been decimated.
International Vice President Vince Engel will be coordinating our assistance efforts, working directly with Local 110 in Edmonton. For members who are eligible, assistance is possible from the Insulators Disaster Relief Fund.
We are also asking members not directly affected by this tragedy to help us spread the word to displaced members who may not have electricity, much less access to the internet. Please share this message and encourage them to contact the Local 110 Hall in Edmonton. The phone number there is 780-426-2874.
While we all hope the weather changes and provides some assistance in battling the numerous wildfires, the safety and well-being of our members is our top priority. Catastrophic events like this are the reason we created the relief fund.
We will work as efficiently as possible to get assistance to the members that need it most, AS FAST AS POSSIBLE.
Our thoughts and prayers are with our Brothers and Sisters struggling through this devastating catastrophe. Please know the HFIAW is ready to help.
