"Badges" Photography Exhibit Honors Fallen Asbestos Workers

As reported in the latest edition of The Insulators Union Journal, "Badges: A Memorial Tribute to Asbestos Workers," a traveling photography exhibit that honors the memory of those who lost their lives due to asbestos exposure, made its public debut at the AFL-CIO headquarters on April 27. 

The exhibit, created by photojournalist Earl Dotter, features the badges of those Brothers and Sisters who unknowingly gave their lives on the job. Also included in the exhibit are historic photographs of work site and doctors treating patients, along with product advertisements and catalogs from industrial companies, all designed to connect the human faces to the industry.

The exhibit opened a day before Workers' Memorial Day, which is observed each year to honor workers who died or were seriously injured on the job. You can find the full story in the summer 2015 edition of The Journal.
